Linus the troll
December 19th, 2005 by teemowI can’t believe, what I’ve just read. This post from Linus Torvalds on the gnome mailing list. What’s going on? It’s such a flame-bait.
My Gnome/Ubuntu desktop is very productive and I don’t miss a thing. Ubuntu’s success is based on the approach to keep things simple and usable which is very similar to what the gnome developers are doing. It’s fun working with it.
I still recommend Ubuntu to anyone who would like to get a feeling what it is like to have an uncomplicated opensource desktop. Open minded without any Nazis inside (Interface Nazi - taboo word 2005).
By the way, my girlfriend will get the Dapper Drake Flight 2 (Ubuntu 6.04) release tonight.
This is an article describing the difference between KDE and Gnome (found on breakmygentoo a while ago).

I dont think that was a troll at all. I think Mr. Torvalds was giving a well thought out and researched opinion on the GNOME software suite and programming team.
