Dour.a.bility
July 19th, 2005 by teemowI didn’t get much sleep from sunday to monday. We slept in a tent right next to the car. Dogs barking, bulldozers, party tents and a late coffee destroyed any hope in having a good sleep.
But we had a lot of fun in belgium. I got up late, jan and anina were already waiting, that’s why we finally missed les georges’ show, but we saw them yesterday here in cologne. It was a great, freaky show totally hot inside. I’m sorry, but I forgot to recharge the battery of my cam. So there are no videos.
At dour we had a lot of fun with dominique, nessie, nine, sam and simon. There weren’t that much great shows, cause liars cancelled, faint were really bitchy and stopped playing after 4 songs. But Jamie Lidell was great. He has a very nice soul voice and does weird stuff with it using loops and samples. Its somehow similar to what Bugge Wesseltoft and Final Fantasy are doing. I also saw some of 13 & God, but it wasn’t that spectacular. I still really like Notwist basslines, but there was just some songs of the notwist or new ones with actually nothing new happening. The rest was some kind of beastie boys rap, which must be the part of ‘Themselves’. And there was a really stupid guy with angel wings in the middle. I didn’t know what to expect, but I think it was something else.
Because of Jamie Lidell’s show we were too late to see Bright Eyes, but we made it to see the last song. There was the whole Saddle Creek family on stage, 10 people including members of The Faint and Gretta Cohn of Cursive. I really liked the last song. But I think it won’t take long to send Conor to Betty Ford. Never heard about a show he wasn’t totally drunk.
