Google labs
March 2nd, 2005 by teemowIf you look at google labs these days, you will find google’s answer to route planning software maps.google.com and video.google.com to search the recent television program. I know that these services are not fresh and new, I’ve been away from posting 3 month, so I have to catch up with some old stuff.
The best thing about google maps is that you can use the normal google search input field to search for any address or location with the information you got. There is no need to fill out different fields. And instead of orkut google maps looks quite nice.
There are also some so called ‘graduate’ labs services like groups2 and local search which are quite nice and everything seems to integrate more and more. If you are a gmail user, you can also manage your discussion groups and mailing lists with groups2. When will there be a single sign on for all that services? Then you can add your personal profile for searches, manage all your contacts and mails, manage your locations, search for traffic jams on usual routes and you will get all that interesting information on your mobile. Would be nice to get sms at friday noon, which tells you the direction to the next fish restaurant… But I can live without it.
